We'll match a certified instructor to your learning style, desired pace, and goals. Each instructor is chosen to provide the maximum service and quality experience for you and your family. A variety of private lessons are available throughout the day if staff is available.

Williams Peak Backcountry Experience

Sunlight Mountain Resort offers backcountry guided ski tours for alpine, telemark, and snowboarding. We offer a half-day tour on Williams Peak, adjacent to the Sunlight Ski Area, where almost 300 inches of dry powder snow falls each winter. With a variety of terrain from steep mountain ridges to broad powder bowls, this area is some of the best backcountry skiing on the Western Slope. Bumps

For those who want to spend their time in the bumps. The clinic groups will be divided based on ability and is for everyone from aspiring bump riders to those who have mastered most of the techniques.

 

Carving

For anyone who wants to learn how modern ski or board design has revolutionized our sports. This clinic will focus on the exhilaration and control of the pure arc turn. Coaches will instruct students on how to develop an increase in speed and turning control in a course setting.

 

Freestyle

For those who want to learn or become better in the park or doing freestyle tricks on the hill. The clinic groups will be divided based on ability and will help you become familiar with current freestyle techniques.

 

Telemark

Telemark skiing (or "tele") has also been called "the most rhythmic and flowing way to descend a snow covered mountain." Discover the feeling of exhilaration that comes from getting into the groove of the tele turn. Learn to drop a knee and master this freeheel style. Telemark rentals are not available on the mountain.

 

Powder & Crud

Learn how you should alter your approach when you're skiing on powder, in crud, and over ice. You will learn that floating on snow is the key to powder skiing and how to deal with icy terrain and crud laden slopes.

 

Jumps and Rails

This type of lesson will focus on rails, boxes and jumps. Coaches will develop a core of freestyle maneuvers for the riders based on the individual skill level. They will break down movements into three parts: approach, take off and landing.

  

Adaptive Skiing

The Sunlight Ski and Snowboard Education Center is pleased to offer basic lessons and training for individuals with special needs. Lessons are offered through our adaptive program and include special assists and introduction to the use of a bi-ski on beginner terrain. Our goal is to make it possible for everyone to enjoy an outdoor winter sports experience at Sunlight Mountain Resort. Lessons require advance notice and reservations to make certain that our program will meet your special needs and ensure instructor and equipment availability. Call 970-945-7491 for lesson pricing. Disabled Skiers Lift Tickets are available for $25.

Please note: To assure lessons start promptly, you must register and check-in no less than 30 minutes before lesson times. If rentals are needed, please allow 60 minutes. Each additional person is $25.00 per hour. $30.00 lift tickets available with private lessons. Snowboard rentals additional $5.00 per day. Sorry, no cash refunds.
